Starting with a braking system that was already the benchmark among mountain bike braking systems, Shimano engineers reworked the design of the XTR 9100 brake levers. Changed were for the BL-M9100 the lever both the clamp and the grip body itself. The clamp moves further into the center of the handle and is angled. This cleverly supports the outer end of the balance tank directly on the handlebar and creates an additional abutment during lever operation.

This significantly increases the stiffness and stability, which ultimately leads to an even more direct brake feel and better controllability. Thus, the BL-M9100 is also 10% stiffer compared to its predecessor. The grip width of the lightweight XC brake lever with a magnesium housing is also individually adjustable. Thanks to I-Spec EV design, the XTR SL-M9100-I shift levers can be mounted directly on the brake lever.
